PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

   This revaluation of the RTSMM is fundamental and complex, by these researches we will scientifically change radically the antiseismic design of the resistance structures. In the present days, this project having as main aim the revaluation of the RTSMM became crucial and extremely  pressing, because its achievement and application will drastic reduce the seismic risc, that is, the human lives and the material losses .

   The new RTSMM will be achieved by revaluing of the underrated seismic intensities and their conversion from the old seismic scales MCS and MSK-64 in EMS-98 intensity scale of Nov. 10, 1940 - MGR = 7,4;  March 4, 1977 - MGR= 7,2; August 30, 1986 - MGR= 7,0 earthquakes. The seismic intensities conversion will be achieved for the historical earthquakes too, begining with X th century. In the revaluing process we will use two seismological up-to-date methodologies (Pantea et al. 2004, Pantea et al. 2005), aproved by the Ministery of the Transport, Buildings and Tourism, published in the Romanian Official Monitor. These methodologies were drawn up the specificity of the Romanian territory seismicity and are concordant to EMS-98 and Eurocode 8 standards.

   The revalued RTSMM will be corroborated to the complex geological, tectonical and geophysical maps (gravimetrical, geomagnetical, hydrological, recent crustal movements etc. maps) in order to  determine the anomalies of the seismic intensities in the attenuation of the seismic energy with the hypocentral distance, as well as the local and isolated anomalies, in order to find the reasons and to eliminate uncertainities.

SCHEDULE:

Stage I:

The achievement of bank of seismological and complex geonomic data with primary interpretation and analyzing of the existing information, in order to establish the main seismogenic zones  for the elaboration of the revalued isoseismal maps, corroborated to geological si geophysical data.

Stage II:

Aquisition and/or processing of the seismological, geological and geophysical data, corroborating the results and the elaboration of the revalued isoseismal maps in accordance to geological si geophysical data for intracarpatic seismogene zones.

Stage III:

Aquisition and/or processing of the seismological, geological and geophysical data, corroborating the results and the elaboration of the revalued isoseismal maps in accordance to geological si geophysical data for extracarpatic seismogene zones.

Stage  IV:

Aquisition and/or processing of the seismological, geological and geophysical data, corroborating the results and the elaboration of the revalued isoseismal maps in accordance to geological si geophysical data for Vrancea seismogene zone.

Stage V:

The elaboration of the Romanian Territory Seismic Macrozoning Map by the corroboration (sinthesis) of the revalued isoseismal maps and of complex geological and geophysical results for crustal and intermediate depth earthquakes occurred on the territory of Romania and in transborder zones, between 984-2006 years.

RESULTS:

 Stage I:

The achievement of bank of seismological and complex geonomic data with primary interpretation and analyzing of the existing information, in order to establish the main seismogenic zones  for the elaboration of the revalued isoseismal maps, corroborated to geological si geophysical data.

 OBJECTIVES:

 Project’s coordinator:

  • The planning of the seismological data base (catalogues, macroseismic questionnaire, assessment reports in the field of the macroseismic effects, isoseismal maps, etc.);

  • The completion on the basis of historic and instrumental seismic events recently discovered, of the catalogue of the seismic events occurred on the Romanian territory and in the transborder zones;

  • The removal of the uncertainties from the seismological data by methods of discrimination of the earthquakes from the explosions;

  • The complex interpretation of the data.

Partner 1:

  • Geomorphological, geological and geophysical data base planning;

  • Geomorphological, geological and geophysical data base drawing up;

  • Geonomical information primary analyses;

  • Existing information primary corroboration in order to establish the main interest areas for investigations in the future phases.

 Partner 2:

  • Tectonical data base planning;

  • The drawing up of a data base concerning the Romanian teritory tectonics;

  • The main seismological areas localizations according to tectonic plates;

  • Establishment of the main interest areas for investigations in the future phases by corroborating the own information with the parteners ones.
